Aurora
Rising were formed in August 2005 when local singing sensation Laura
Purdue joined forces with the original and surviving members,
Mark (aka Dougs), Gav, Richard and their new bassist Brian of what
had been a Glasgow covers band which had reached the end of the line
after the original singer walked out, unhappy with the prospect of
bringing originals into the set.
With her good looks, stage presence and incredible voice Laura
breathed new life into the old line and a new band was formed.
Bringing originals into the set, the band quickly gelled coming up
with the brilliant and brooding Blue Red Sky, which with
its fast paced riff, grinding rock and incredible vocals was like a
shot of adrenalin to the heart and quickly became their signature
tune. The night train had taken off once again.
Drawing from varied influences like The Rolling Stones, Guns
‘n’ Roses, Led Zeppelin, ACDC, Metalica and even a hint of The
Beatles as evinced in the mesmerizing McCartney influenced
Stargazer, Aurora Rising have played all over the Glasgow scene and
even as far a field as the far north of Scotland as they spread the
word and try to turn on the world to their potent brand of this
latest incarnation of rock ‘n’roll.
As of the end of April, Aurora Rising have just finished
recording a four song demo which should be available in early May
with samples on the website. A
refreshing down to Earth band, they write songs about relationships (Blue Red Sky), escapism
(Live and Love), the teenage dream (Stargazer), belonging (Open
Road), revenge (Victory Rising) and even a dab of politics as well
(Dances of Democracy).
