Origins
The
seeds of the bands birth started a few years ago, the first
contractions started when Bryan received a drumkit & started
banging away to his fave tunes. This led to Alan playing alongside
with guitar.
Then came the first gig, a family party. They committed the ultimate
sin & slaughtered a few classic Kinks numbers. They did manage
to get a good response from the drunken crowd.
Formulation
The
origins of Fluid b.c. started out about 4 years ago. The second
contraction to the birth of the band started, lo & behold Fluid
were born. The band were Alan, Bryan & Kenny Rodger. It was Kenny
who christened the band Fluid. Kenny left the band well before any
gigs were performed with this trio.
Fluid continued with the dynamic duo of Alan & Bryan. They
continued for a couple of gigs creating music capers that lacked
Kapow!
They then met up with nomadic speedpunk guitarist Kris. Encouraged
by his ability to learn songs with extreme energy, Alan & Bryan
adopted Kris as their long lost, third member of the band. Kris soon
switched to bass & Fluid were once again a trio.
The
Initial Sample
Using
a shed as a makeshift studio, the band gave birth to the first Fluid
demo. This included the tracks: Angelica, Hit & Run & the
ever popular Brief Candle. The demo attracted a 4.5 review from
Violator-Music. This led to a succession of gigs in the Highlands of
Scotland, where the band were based.
The
music
The
band have steadily built up a reputation in the Highlands & more
recently glasgow. Well received everywhere they play, fluid's style
has slowly evolved through many styles starting with mainly punk.
This process has eventually given birth to a fresh, hybrid style
which is a mix of original styles fused with contemporary rock
music.
Due
to to other outside arguments, Fluid are now Known as Fluid b.c. The
meaning of which is a tightly locked away secret.
Currently
The time again EP has been released for a while, through a one off
deal with Matchbox records. Available now at
www.matchboxrecordings.co.uk. Also available at Tower Records &
CD Baby and every digital download site under the sun. The e.p
received many positive reviews and secured the band support slots
with many established scottish bands such as the Grim northern
social.
Two
songs from the current e.p, time again & brief candle, are being
used in a worldwide ad campaign for oneills extreme sportswear.
Whish will give excellent exposure for the band and hopefully more
fans.
