So then, just how did GHOST OF THE ROBOT get together?
Well, Aaron Anderson and Charlie DeMars were in a band called Soccer Hooligans. They
released their debut album, Soccer Hooligans and then promptly … broke up (like true rock stars). Of course, this was
months before their ‘never released’ EP, Thesis was due to be released.
The next project for Aaron and Charlie was their band, Power Animal, which was formed
with a group of local Californian musicians, one of which was Kevin McPherson, a well-known local jazz bass player.
Power Animal broke down into a trio: Aaron, Charlie and Kevin, after only playing a few shows together.
A few gigs later and Charlie decided to move to the outskirts of Los Angeles to stay with
his step-brother, Steven Sellers, who at the time was writing movie scores. Charlie was then introduced to Steve’s
neighbour, James Marsters. Charlie and James started to hang out together playing guitar and writing songs. They then
had this fantastic idea of forming a band. James and Charlie played a couple of gigs at the 14Below club in Santa
Monica, which went down very well, and then they invited Steven, Aaron and Kevin to join the group.
So, there you have it, that’s how GHOST OF THE ROBOT was born.
