Platinum JAR (formed
1994) is a band based around three brothers from Leicester.Jay,
Aaron and Rich Lang are founding members of the band, and have
continued to progress in musical ability and live performance over
the past 10 years. The band have recently recruited bass
guitarist Ryan Bakewell in order to improve their live sound.
Original songs are
best described as 'melodic rock', taking influence from bands such
as Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, Firehouse, Aerosmith, Deep Purple
and alike. The songs are all written with live performance in
mind, something the band has worked tirelessly to perfect .
Giving 100% at each
and every gig ensures the band never fail to win the admiration of
their audience, and they have over
the years, built up a solid fanbase. Unlike so many other acts,
‘Platinum JAR’ pride themselves on playing 100% live, no
samples and no backing; and are willing to go out on a limb to get
their music heard.
To sum things up,
Platinum JAR are not a flash in the pan band, but are instead, a
band who have grown with experience and are now ready to show what
they can do.
Jay is the frontman of the band, and the oldest of the three
brothers. As well as singing lead vocals, Jay also plays
guitar (both lead and rythm). His voice is both powerful and
dinstinctive, and has been compared to rock legends such as Jon
Bon Jovi and Meatloaf. He is an experienced musician, having been
playing the guitar since primary school.
Rich is the middle brother in the band and plays Keyboards and
sings backing vocals. Having keyboards in a rock band is something
that is no longer common place, but yet is essential in order to
write a more diverse range of songs, that arent solely guitar
driven.Taking influence from many of the great rock bands of the
past, Rich provides a priceless contribution to the songwriting
process in the band.
Aaron is the youngest of the three brothers in the band, yet is
without a doubt equally if not more musically accomplished.
Having passed the highest grade rock school drums at just 13 years
old, he has continued to develop his talent.
He also joins Rich in singing backing vocals in the band. Aaron,
unlike many drummers has a firm grip of the songwriting
process, and is able to throw new ideas into the pot whilst the
band are writing.
Ryan Bakewell is the newest member of the band, having been
invited to join in may 2016. Platinum JAR felt that the band
needed to improve on their live sound, so they called upon a
talented bass guitarist to do just that.
